To set matters straight, these weekly examinations will contain no hyperlinks, but accurate representations of well researched issues. That being the case, one can always engage one's mind in personal research to further and deepen knowledge. That would be a major victory, and addressing one dimension of these monologues.
Surely-You-Jest is a domain, but no use going there as it is 'parked' with Go-Daddy.....a blog is much easier to use, or now, a printed blog to communicate. Several other blogs contain this writer's thoughts, as well.
To begin with this horrible Koran-burning issue, how can any rational, reasonable person in the world announce they were going to commit an act of violence, then go ahead, in the name of God, to act out their irrationality and madness, encourage others to do the same--- to desecrate a different religion, both of which aspire to peaceful co-existence? This, knowing that violence in response will be the reaction.
Knowing for certain.
This preacher, this man of God---representing The Dove World Outreach Center---is calling for an Inter- national Koran burning day to somehow commemorate the actions of a horrific conspiracy occurring on September 11, 2001? One would believe a 'dove outreach' might not be so violent and reprehensible, but more loving---a more accepting gesture. A dove, not a hawk missile.
In what kind of mad world do we live? This needs to stop and stop now. Those old enough to remember what happened in Europe a few decades ago will remember the associated horrors. Cannot we learn our lessons?
Are we trapped into perpetual war and vitriolic hatred---all in the name of that which makes one's 'spiritual' component positively blush with the excitement of living in perfect peace?
Much like it is imagined in Heaven, at least for those worthy of admittance. Love and peaceful abundance. Yet, many are willing to march, carrying the spear and spewing fire. In all seriousness, to what end? Will your God be proud of you?
Stop. In the name of all of your Gods--stop.
To underwrite his religious vision, Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville, Florida, simply justifies with "...to me, it looks like a religion of the Devil." Therefore, all good, God fearing Americans should burn a Koran between 6 PM and 9 PM on September 11. That ought to do it. That will show those filthy Muslims a thing or two.
Surely, this must qualify as a hate crime.
Simply the utterance, and the apparent determination to carry out this heinous action, ought to qualify 'Pastor' Jones for detention and a full mental health examination. In some places, if a person is a danger to themselves, or a danger to others, they can be arrested and held in a locked psychiatric hospital for 72 hours, their release subject to a mental health professional's evaluation.
If necessary, a person who persists with, say, delusions of religiosity and grandeur and is likely to commit dangerous acts, can be institutionalized for six months, then face a tough exam for societal re-entry.
Sounds like a perfect plan for Mr. Jones. Perhaps a prayer or two will do it........Advocate
