'Like most folks in this country, I have a job.
I work, they pay me.
I pay my taxes; the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.
In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to
pass a random urine test
(with which I have no problem).
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
So, here is my question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT doing drugs while I work.
Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I guess we could call the program "URINE OR YOU'RE OUT"!
Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.
Hope you all will pass it along, though.
Something has to change in this country - AND SOON!'
I encountered this ridiculous piece of propaganda through email, and was incredulous as to its absolute stupidity. Stupid Americans.
How in the world can individuals get to the point that they believe those who are unemployed or disabled, or are single mothers raising children are waiting for their check to 'get drugs'. What! Hello! They can't even afford drugs, you idiots.
Here's your drug users---upper middle class suit and tie guys, who use 'a little coke' or smoke some 'killer weed' to relax. Sure, there are heroin and crack addicts laying in the streets all throughout this land. Not many of them are receiving 'welfare' checks, however. They are lucky to find a place to sleep.
And you simpletons are worried that unemployed people are 'sitting on their butts doing drugs. Evidently, comedian Ron White was correct when he said, 'you can't fix stupid.'
The preponderance of unemployed or single mothers with children can barely subsist on the amount of money they receive monthly. Can't you self-righteous people understand that? Our economic system is purposefully and constantly eroding the value of our dollar, and providing fewer of these dollars to sustain many necessities of life. This shall remain true until enough people rise up, just as history instructs, and matters are changed to reflect a fairer distribution of wealth and resources. Or, when the dollar finally crashes, things will start to happen. Bad things.
Of course, the real issue here is that such a sentiment represents an anathema of the worst kind in the face of greed. Greed will squeeze as hard as it can---until it is forced to stop.
The ever compassionate Senator Orrin Hatch appears to have joined the ranks of Stupid Americans.
He spoke the following to the national press: 'We shouldn't pay extended unemployment benefits to people who are just going to blow it drugs.' Or something stupid like that.
At two-thirds of your salary, in the case of unemployment compensation, how many months do you think you could get by without running out of money? Go ahead, do the math. It won't take long before you aren't making credit card payments. There are far too many folks working in this country who are two paychecks away from poverty.
But, one supposes you 'urine testing' proponents gain some sense of superiority or some other troglodyte sensation by heaping stress on the unfortunate members of our society.
Shame on you. Every one of you God-fearing, patriotic zealots who can't seem to exist in any more than one dimension. And every one of you who subscribes to the disgusting message which wormed its way into my email.
Take a look around. The banks, who were bailed out with your money are making record profits only one year later. And they are NOT re-investing in the small business sector. A familiar mantra from the right wing is 'where are the jobs?' Well, ask the bankers----they are holding their funds generated from 0% Fed loans and treasury buy backs at 3% guaranteed. Why do they need the headaches associated with small business loans? And they are positioned to continue to participate in offshore schemes, that despite 'tightened regulations, are as large a money sieve as ever.
Where is your outrage at this? Doesn't this contribute to the high unemployment rate? Think about it.
Maybe we ought to have a pissing contest between Citibank and Bank of America. Good idea? What do you suppose? Perhaps the resultant urine sample might provide some answers to some very aberrant, anti-social behavior.
At least I agree with your last statement, just through a different lens.
Signing out.
